Customer Support

I have added items to the store. Now how do I turn the store on for my customers to purchase them?

Follow

Now that you have all the items in the Store, you just need to make the Store visible for your customers.

  • From the Admin Site Map, go to Content..Configurations..Site Page Structure
  • Right-click on Menu Pages, scroll to Add Standard Page, and then Store
  • Click the left button on your mouse to select Store
  • The Store page is now visible at the bottom of the page as the last menu item under Menu Pages
  • You can now drag and drop the Store to the location you want this page to be displayed on the tabs on your website.  Note: If you like, you can  rename the Store to whatever you want it to be called by double-clicking on Store, typing in the new text, and clicking your mouse off of the entry.
  • Once the Store is named what you want and you get it placed in the right location, click Save.
  • Click Home and you will now see the Store added to your tabs.

If you don't have enough admin capabilities to make the Site Page Structure changes, you can ask your webmaster to make these for you.

I can see the store page in the main menu, but when I log in to TS the menu disappears and I don't know how to get to the store page anymore.

Hi Tom, I put together an article with the steps on how to add the store link for when your customers are signed into your site - https://teamsideline.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/217871443. In the future, we are looking to add a button to make it even easier.

Your documentation worked great! Thanks tons!

Is there any way to get other text on the player's user site map page? I'm worried that it won't be obvious that they should click the Place Order link to renew their membership card, so I'd like to put a hint on the page for them.

Hi Tom. At this time, there is no ability to add information to the User Site Map. I have added this as a request for a future release. In the interim, you could add information to your home page - either on the Home Page text or on a News Item.

The store works great for those players who log into gssl.org and initiate the purchase online, but I know we'll have some players that call our office and will want our admins to place the order for them. The admin can search for the player's account, but once there I don't see a way to purchase something from the store using the player's name and address info. Am I missing something?

Here's what looks like a bug I ran into:
    1. I'm on the Account Management page for a player.
    2. I want to buy a store item but charge it to the player; there doesn't seem to be a direct way to do that since I can't find any link to the store from the Acct. Mgmt page.
    3. I click the www.gssl.org link at the top of the page so I can see the main menu that contains an entry for the store.
    4. I use the store menu entry to get to the store and put into the cart the item the player wants to buy; I do not go through checkout. (Note: the cart is associated with my admin login, not the player's account.)
    5. I use the Admin Site Map link at the top of the page to go back to the admin pages.
    6. I search for the player again to get to the player's Acct. Mgmt page.
    7. I click the Place Order tab and notice that the item I put into the cart is still there. I was surprised to see that since the item is in my cart, not the player's cart.
    8. When I click the Checkout button I get the TS Oops screen.

I suspect the problem is that the cart is really associated with my admin account so TS is getting confused when I try to checkout while on the player's Acct Mgmt page.

I'm not suggesting this needs to be fixed immediately since I doubt very many users would go through that sequence, but since the Oops screen showed up I thought you would want to know about it.

Hi Tom. At this time, the admin does not have the ability to add store items when they are on the Account Overview page for a customer - this is functionality that is not enabled. Also, please keep in mind that the membership functionality is only enabled for registration programs and if you have customers purchase additional registrations through the store, it won't update their membership records.

Thanks for the quick reply. We weren't trying to sell any memberships in the store, just a fee for replacing a lost card. We tried using the Add-On feature for that fee but found out an Add-On can only be purchased once and we really need to allow for more than one lost card in a player's career so we were hoping we could use the Store to allow the fee to be used multiple times. It's a bummer that the Store is not available to admins since we think most players will call the league office when they realize they've lost their card.

Is there any other feature TS has that would allow an admin to charge the player a card replacement fee?

    Thanks again!

Hi Tom, at this time the only option would be to have the Add-On feature (optional item) where you the admin can additionally purchase the replacement card for them once each registration period. I have added your league to the request to have the store functionality available for the admins and we'll look at adding this to the system in a future release.
